The article published March 16, "
Alphabet's Verily To Launch
COVID-19 Website Late Monday," in
Search Media Daily, credited Alphabet in the headline and story with launching the web site. In fact, Verily, a little-known Alphabet company and sister
company to Google, which is focused on healthcare, will launch the website and collect personal information from those who opt in. Not Google.
It's also important to note this is just a test of
the site rolling out in the San Francisco Bay Area. Alphabet and Google CEO Sundar Pichai issued a statement that read, in part: "Californians will be able to take an online COVID-19 screener survey
through Verily’s Project Baseline, and those who
meet eligibility and requirements for testing will be directed to mobile testing sites based on capacity."
