A New York Times staffer has tested positive for coronavirus, joining a number of employees at media companies who have caught COVID-19.

The Times announced Monday that the employee, based out of the publisher’s Manhattan headquarters, has not been to the office since March 5 and is self-quarantining at home, according to the New York Post’s report. It cited an internal memo from Times publisher A.G. Sulzberger and executive editor Dean Baquet.

Employees who may have had contact with the staffer have been notified and asked to self-quarantine.

The Times had already encouraged most of its staff to work from home.

A Vox Media employee who works at its 85 Broad Street office tested positive for coronavirus. Over the weekend, Vox asked any staffers that were at the office last week to self-quarantine for 14 days.

Five employees at CBS’ New York offices have the COVID-19 virus. Most of its journalists were asked to work remotely.

According to the Daily Beast, CNN told employees this afternoon that an editorial staffer at its Hudson Yards office has tested positive for coronavirus. Anyone who had close contact with the employee has been asked to self-quarantine for 14 days.

ABC News said Monday that a journalist based in its Los Angeles office who was covering the COVID-19 outbreak in Seattle had tested positive for coronavirus.

And at NBC, an employee who worked on the “Today” show’s third hour tested positive.

Show anchors Craig Melvin and Al Roker and others who interacted with the staffer, were asked to self-isolate at home.
