Monday Leads In Email Opens During COVID-19 Crisis: Report

Monday is the best day of the week for sending marketing emails during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to COVID-19 Retail Pulse, a study released by BounceX, a SaaS technology provider.

The reason is that people working from home are using Monday morning to ease back into things (as opposed to working right away), states Ryan Urban, founder and CEO of BounceX.

Email opens jumped to 49.50% on Monday April 13, plunged to 21.93% on Saturday April 18 and rebounded to 36.4% on Monday April 20. On Monday of this week, they hit 41%.

And in general, they are higher now than they were early in March, perhaps reflecting increased interest in COVID-19-related content.

Click rates are also higher than they were in early March. Strangely, they seem to decline on Mondays — for example, they reached only 0.07% on Monday the 13th. But they ascend on Saturdays.

Email conversions hit a dramatic spike on Friday, April 17 — 102.63%. But on Monday of this week, that was down to 66.94%. Email revenue peaked on Friday March 24.

Website visits have hit highs on Thursdays, peaking on April 16 and April 24. Revenue also hit highs for March on those dates. But there was a flattening toward the 27th.

In the UK, the highest number of conversions and revenue occurred on Friday, April 17. But visits had their apex on Sunday, April 26th.
