PopSugar Launches 'Mental Health Matters' Site

PopSugar has created a new digital hub called "Mental Health Matters."

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Nearly 47 million Americans live with a mental illness, impacting one in five adults.

This is the second year PopSugar has created a destination for mental-health content. However, this year's COVID-19 global pandemic has caused added stress and anxiety for many. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has a page dedicated to mental health and coping amid the health crisis.

“With an unprecedented pandemic altering life as we all know it, it is more important than ever to come together and unify to talk about the mental-health struggles we are all facing both individually and collectively,” reads a statement from Group Nine, PopSugar's parent company.

"Mental Health Matters" will feature advice on topics such as what to do if you can’t afford therapy, how to end a relationship with your therapist and the ADA protections that exist for workers struggling with mental health.

“Massive lifestyle changes have put huge strains on many, so we thought it was more important than ever to offer a destination where different voices can share their experiences to help readers feel connected and less alone in their daily battle,” stated Lisa Sugar, founder-president of PopSugar.

The site also includes personal essays from stars like WNBA player Imani McGee-Stafford and music duo Aly and AJ.

Other features will tackle an array of subjects, such as gun violence and explainers on different disorders.
