NBCU, Google Ink Peacock Distribution Deal

NBCUniversal announced that its new Peacock streaming service, set to roll out nationally on July 15, will be available on Google's Android and AndroidTV devices, Chromecast and Chromecast built-in devices.

Android and Android TV users will have complimentary access to Peacock Premium until Oct. 15. After the promotion period, Peacock Premium will be available for $4.99 per month on Android and Android TV via Google Play in-app purchase. Users can upgrade to an ad-free tier for an additional $5 per month.

Peacock already had distribution deals with Xbox and Apple, but those deals do not include a free access period for the Peacock Premium tier, which offers more than 15,000 hours of content.

The free tier, available to consumers using any device, offers more than 7,500 hours of content.

Peacock -- like rival new streamer HBO Max -- has yet to sign distribution agreements with existing streaming powers Roku and Amazon.
