'People En Espanol' To Host Virtual Events, Launches Health-Focused Title

People En Espanol announced this week that it would take the remainder of its 2020 events virtual, following the launch of its debut issue of health- and celebrity- focused People En Espanol Salud.

Upcoming events, including Inspírate, 2020 Virtual Poderosas Conference and 2020 Virtual Festival People en Espanol, will each offer online attendees a fully immersive experience with the goal of mirroring a real-life version.

People en Espanol recognizes the currently complex issues that have a significant impact on the Hispanic community. It is imperative for us to support and empower our passionate audiences with essential, relevant and provocative content during this momentous time,” stated Monique Manso, People en Espanol publisher.

Inspírate, which counts Toyota Highlander as a sponsor, will take place as a social-first, video content series and weekend summit covering topics like stress management, cooking and beauty. The Poderosas Conference will look toward reaching a larger audience of Latina business women, community leaders and activists through its virtual platform.

Festival People En Espanol, the largest free live experience of its kind, will transform its slate of content celebrating culture, community, entertainment and celebrities into an accessible, digital-first experience for attendees.

Earlier, People en Espanol launched the first issue of People en Espanol Salud, a single-topic health-focused title delivered to 2,000 physician’s offices.

People en Espanol Salud is published by Meredith Targeted Media Health, Meredith’s point-of-care arm, which also produces People Health, Time Health and Health Reports. The first issue features television journalist and author Myrka Dellanos, who lives with diabetes, in addition to actors Gina Rodriguez and Christian Tappan.

Future issues are expected to deal with asthma and psoriasis.

Speaking to the title's mix of educational, aspirational and celebrity content, John Kenyon, managing director, at Meredith Targeted Media Health, stated: “People find tremendous comfort in hearing how extraordinary people have ordinary things that happen to them, just like regular people do. Everything is [communicated] in comforting fashion. That’s important, because you’re giving this to people in physicians’ offices, where there can be anxiety.”

The title developed an easy-to-use QR code to make it easy for patients or offices uncomfortable with touching a physical copy during the COVID-19 pandemic to read its content.
