Chemistry is joining forces with Cam Kirk Studios to create internships in the Atlanta community for Black creatives.

The Ally Internship paid program will introduce advertising, design, photography and video production as viable career paths to aspiring Black creatives while also creating a new path for job placement within these fields for potential candidates.

Interested applicants are encouraged to submit their resumé along with a brief video summarizing why they want the job here.

Those selected will start in September, splitting their time (40 hours a week) between the two shops. At Cam Kirk Studios, interns will learn the fundamentals of photography as well as being mentored by Kirk and his staff. At Chemistry they’ll be exposed to a variety of aspects within the agency model, including production, copywriting, art direction and design with dedicated creative mentors. 

After completion of the internship, candidates will receive a panel review from agency and studio leadership. The end result of which will include a review for possible employment with the agency or the studio. Looking forward, they plan on hosting the internship three times a year: fall, spring and summer. 

“Cam and I were brainstorming what we could do to help create alternative paths for Black creative talent and agreed the best form of action is allyship through internship,” explains Chris Breen, Chief Creative Officer at Chemistry. 

Both Breen and Kirk hope this framework can be replicated across other markets. Kirk states, “When we prove this approach can be successful, we’re hoping other Black-owned creative businesses and ad agencies will use our blueprint to help open up new streams to tap into Black creative talent in Atlanta.”
