As kids return to school in a variety of capacities this month, Highlightsmagazine is looking to help parents out with its first subscription box. The 15 Minutes a Day to School Success box caters to preschool, kindergarten and first-grade students and was designed with teachers.

Boxes are $24.98, but the first installment is being offered for a 50% discount. The first box is accompanied by a School Success Starter Kit that includes a program guide, progress poster, sticker rewards sheet and wipe-clean writing board.

The idea for the box was based on research that says a child can get as little as 15 minutes of engaged practice of a learning activity a day to grow that skill. Each box blends grade-specific skills with activities like puzzles, mazes and jokes.

The kits include kid-friendly directions and built-in motivators in addition to two practice workbooks with content focused on math, reading, phonics and handwriting, among other topics.

"We wanted to create a product that supports both child and parent, and package it in a way that promotes learning progress while seamlessly fitting into a family's day-to-day life," said Mary-Alice Moore, executive vice president at Highlights.
