DNC's Third Night Sees Sharp 19% Increase To 22.8 Million TV Viewers

Featuring big-name speakers including former President Barack Obama, and Vice Presidential Candidate Kamala Harris, the third night of the Democratic National Convention witnessed a sharp increase in its TV audience versus the previous night -- 19% higher to 22.8 million Nielsen-measured viewers.

Total viewership came from ten TV networks airing coverage between 10:00 p.m. to 11:15 p.m. ET.

All three major demographic groups showed gains versus Day Two: 18- to-34-year-old viewers were up 42% to 1.34 million, while 35- to-54-year-olds were 23% higher to 4.67 million, and those 55 years and older rose 15% to 16.1 million.

MSNBC continued to post the best results of any TV network. During the 10 p.m. hour, it pulled in 6.5 million viewers.

CNN was at 5.8 million, while Fox News Channel came in at 2.2 million. MSNBC posted the highest number of TV viewers of all networks for Day One and Day Two of the DNC event.

Day Three of this year’s DNC event was down 7% from the same day four years ago. That night tallied 24.4 million, from eight networks -- ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, CNBC, Fox Business Network, Fox News Channel and MSNBC.

Wayne, as these are average commercial minute numbers the total audience---watched any portion of the DNC show----may have been  double and, maybe more---of the reported audience.
