Jack Morton Unveils 'Camp Jack' For Aspiring Creatives

Jack Morton is helping young people kick start their careers through Camp Jack, a free virtual mentorship program.

The six-week course will provide virtual face time discussions with the agency’s creative, strategic and production leaders on topics ranging from how to pitch an idea and brand yourself in the job market to creative concepting.

During the camp’s third week, organizers will introduce a special “elite-level” curriculum for up to five students. Students will submit portfolios—for possible consideration for a position or internship--and an internal Jack Morton team will review them for acceptance.

The selected five will be assigned two professional mentors to provide guidance for two weeks.

During week eight these five students will present their ideas at an internal office meeting in late October/November to share their work and talk about their experience with the program.

Camp Jack is open to all college juniors and seniors and recent graduates.

While the program is primarily aimed at students attracted to creative, people interested in other disciplines are welcome to register. A background in design, advertising or communications is not required.

The only pre-requisite is a curiosity and passion for creative, states Shelley Elkins, Jack Morton’s Chief Creative Officer and creative course lead, “There is a whole generation of creative energy out there, just waiting to be given a chance. They have the fire. Sometimes that fire just needs a little kindling, and we think that’s what Camp Jack can offer.”

The program launches September 22.  A second program is being planned for 2021, while the agency is also looking at duplicating it in international markets.
