New Ad Challenges Corporations To Take A Stand

It’s no secret that many corporations donate millions of dollars to politicians on both sides of the aisle and across the ideological spectrum.

Now, the Lincoln Project is out with a new spot on Twitter that demands corporations be far more discerning about who they support, the implication being that some donations end up doing harm — such as supporting efforts to suppress voting rights or even abetting the insurrection that took place on Jan. 6.

The ad points out that political donations are the “oxygen of American politics,” and that corporations have to make a choice.

A bold white graphic appears in the spot with the question “Do they stand for this?” as images flood the screen from the Capitol Hill riot. “Or do they stand with us?” the next graphic asks, as the scene shifts to a polling place where voters are filling out ballots.

The ad ends with “We are watching.”

The group also broke a new ad on YouTube today noting that many elected Republicans still don’t accept the fact that Joe Biden was legally elected, “which means they don’t believe in democracy.”

Bottom line, democracy prevailed when Biden took office, but the pro-Trumpers and other supporters of autocracies are still fighting the fight. Which is why everyone else has to, as well.
