Hulu Ups VOD Service Options By $1/Month

Hulu is raising its monthly price by $1 for both its ad-supported premium video on demand service and its ad-free VOD option -- to $6.99 and $12.99, respectively.

The change will take effect in October. The Disney bundle of three services -- Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+ -- will stay the same at $13.99.

The Disney bundle went up in price by $1 to $13.99 in July. That’s when Disney raised the price of ESPN+ by a dollar to $6.99 a month. Disney+ price was hiked in March, also by a $1, to $7.99.

In December, Hulu increased its Hulu + LIve TV option by $10 to $65 a month.

Last month, Disney reported its direct-to-consumer business -- which Hulu and Disney+ are a major part of -- was up 57% to $4.3 billion in revenue.

Hulu -- its subscription video-on-demand option -- grew 22% to 39.1 million subscribers year-over-year. Hulu Live TV+ SVOD climbed 9% to 3.7 million versus a year ago. Still, Hulu Live TV+ dipped 100,00 subscriber versus Disney previous fiscal second-quarter period.
