Obit: Marketing Guru Tony Pace, Dead At 64

Tony Pace, a long-time marketer and industry consultant best known as CMO of Subway, died Tuesday as a result of snowmobiling accident in Southwestern Montana.

Pace, who most recently was principal of consultancy Cerebral Graffiti, as well as president-CEO of MASB (the Marketing Accountability Standards Board), is a past chairman of the Association of National Advertisers.

“Tony was a phenomenal ANA chairman and an incredible leader who helped us navigate one of our most challenging times in ANA history – the media transparency report we issued in 2016,” said ANA CEO Bob Liodice.  “Without his forceful presence and his great courage, our job at bringing forward this seminal industry moment would have been most challenging indeed. He made a huge difference for us and played a key role in reinforcing the ANA’s position as a leading voice in the marketing industry.”

He was a long-time agency executive at McCann-Erickson and Y&R before joining Subway as its CMO in 2006.

Pace was inducted as a MediaPost marketing All Star in 2012.
