Orthman To Head Genesis Marketing

Genesis Motor America has named Wendy Orthman to head its marketing department.

Wendy Orthman will lead the luxury brand’s marketing strategy in the U.S., continuing to grow awareness and consideration. Genesis is the luxury vehicle division of Hyundai Motor Group.

Orthman, whose new title is executive director, marketing, brings more than two decades of integrated marketing and communications experience in the auto industry both in the U.S. and abroad.

She joins Genesis from Infiniti Motor Co. where she was appointed to global head of brand, marketing and communications in November. That newly created role merged the responsibilities of chief marketing and chief communications officer.

Prior to that, her roles focused on brand, social media and product lifestyle communications at Nissan, FCA and GM.

Orthman replaces Jeri Yoshizu, who held the position at Genesis from March 2020 to July 2021, reporting to Mark Del Rosso, the automaker’s previous president and chief executive officer. She left to become senior director of digital marketing at Fisker Inc.

Genesis also appointed Peter Donnellan as executive director, after sales, customer satisfaction and training.

Donnellan joins Genesis from Audi where he held multiple sales positions.

Both Donnellan and Orthman will report to Claudia Marquez, chief operating officer of Genesis Motor North America.

“Genesis is a new brand with an incredible opportunity to grow,” Marquez said in a release. “I am looking forward to working with Wendy to enhance and grow our presence in the market and increase consumer consideration for the brand.”
