DiversityInc’s list, which began in 2001, is one the leading assessments of diversity management in corporate America. The results are derived from corporate survey submissions from companies with at least 750 employees in the U.S. Companies are evaluated within the context of their own industries.
The process recognizes companies for steps taken to create an inclusive and equitable culture. Companies are evaluated in six areas: human capital diversity metrics, leadership accountability, talent programs, workplace practices, supplier diversity and philanthropy.
Participation in the Top 50 survey is free and every participating company that completes their submission receives a free report card, assessing its performance versus all competitor's overall performance in key areas of diversity and inclusion management.
Participation in the list has increased every year, according to the company. The list is “volatile” as new companies gain strength and others work to keep up with quickly evolving best practices.
DiversityInc's mission is to bring education and clarity to the business benefits of diversity.
