DAZN is in talks to acquire Eleven Sports, a rival network. However, no deal is imminent.
The unconfirmed report initially appeared in the Financial Times,
according to a story in Front Office Sports. If true, it would expand DAZN’s footprint in Europe.
DAZN, once described by The
Telegraph as the “Netflix of Sports," lost $1.3 billion in 2020, largely because of cancellation of live events during the pandemic, Front Office
Sports continues.
The company reported revenue of $871 million for that year, during which it announced the start of a boxing service in the U.K. It has also failed
in an attempt to acquire BT Group, but has secured a deal to broadcast all La Liga matches.
In another development, DAZN has announced the launch of the DAZN Boxing
Global NFT Marketplace, according to Fansided.
Shoppers who buy an NFT pack from the DAZN marketplace were to receive a free Ryan Garcia NFT. Garcia is a boxer who on
Saturday knocked out Javier Fortuna in six rounds in a 140-pound bout.
