McCann Unveils New Design Unit

McCann has unveiled a new unit called McCann Design, an entity with teams in New York, London and Toronto that will offer clients design services including graphics, 3D animation, product and packaging and more.

The new unit is basically a repackaging and repositioning of services the agency already offers but with an eye toward expanding the offering and enhancing its appeal to clients.

McCann New York has recruited Matt van Leeuwen to lead the McCann Design practice hub in the U.S. He joins from Mother Design in New York where he has been creative director for the last five years. While there he directed identity design and communications for brands like Dave & Buster’s, TripAdvisor and Target.

His counterpart in London is Lisa Carrana, head of design at McCann London. In Toronto Josh Stein, Chief Creative Officer, McCann Canada, will oversee the design practice.

“Exceptional design is core to the visual expression of a brand and its ability to live across multiple channels,” stated Chris Macdonald, Global Chairman & CEO, McCann.

“Expanding this capability with this dedicated team ensures we can deliver best-in-class visual craftmanship for our clients and allows us to scale this expertise to McCann’s largest markets,” added Macdonald. “We see design as an integral part of both brand and business problem-solving.”
