but email is never, ever going away.
I hear the conversations and I read the news.
Tools like Slack and Teams are getting all the views.
But for those of us who get the real work done,
Email is still where we have most of our day-to-day fun.
Email is the workhorse of digital media land.
Our world revolves around that little ampersand.
We coordinate, schedule and follow up on all the necessary details,
Via a constant exchange of back-and-forth emails.
During the pandemic we saw newsletters revitalize,
As Morning Brew and others kept us on top of what next might arise.
Younger generations don’t flock to Gmail like us old fogies do,
But as they enter the workforce, they will find it crucial in a world of “too much to do.”
Slack and text are immediate, while mail is less so.
I can flag messages to get back to later when I have a moment to do so.
I cannot foresee a world where email has gone the way of the dodo.
Even my newsfeed sends me emails from time to time,
Because even Facebook or Meta now knows where to drop me a dime.

It's one piece of the whole pie - I think every generation knows that. Haven't seen "email is dead" (attempted) click bait headlines lately - so maybe this subject is fading away. You just wanted to write a poem today, didn't you! Maybe ALL your peices should be poems going forward. Differentation and change are good things.
Is that bad? I have to have some fun when i write :-)
