Not-So-Happy Reactions To McDonald's Latest Happy Meals

So far, many McDonald’s employees and customers aren’t so happy about the fast feeder’s adult Happy Meal.

McDonald’s started selling Happy Meals to adult customers on Monday, Oct. 3. as part of a collaboration with streetwear brand Cactus Flea Market.

As soon as the Meals went on sale, McDonald’s employees were complaining about having to deal with a deluge of orders. “Bro, pls don’t order those adult happy meals bro I’m begging,” wrote one employee on TikTok.

“New adult Happy Meals are killing me,” another wrote on Reddit. Another thanked God because his store ran out of toys, “because I was about to lay on the floor and cry.”

The promotion includes a Big Mac and the 10-piece Chicken McNuggets as main course. The meal also comes with a drink, French fries and a prize. The price of the meal is $12.29 in New York.

A CNBC reporter tried the Meal and reported, “after trying it, I mostly felt like I had been ripped off.” He noted that the price he paid—$12.89 before tax, is “$2.60 more than the $10.29 I’d pay for the large Big Mac meal, which contains the exact same amount of food.”

Another reviewer, from NJ.com, noted that “there’s nothing special about the toy” and advised “If you’re going for true nostalgia, maybe don’t make the toy a bland, lifeless partnership with a hypebeast fashion company—and a creepy one at that.”

Despite such criticism, sales of the adult Happy Meals have been strong. Some McDonald’s employees told Insider that they were sold out on the first day. Reps from McDonald’s could not be reached for comment at press time.
