Out-of-home media agency Project X Media announced
today that Rick Robinson has been appointed CEO, effective, Jan.1, 2023.
John Laramie (CEO) and Josh Warrum (COO), who co-founded the company in 2010, will step away from day-to-day
responsibilities and remain active through their board roles. Private equity firm Tritium Partners purchased an undisclosed stake in the company in 2019.
Robinson joined PJX as Chief Strategy
Officer in August, to oversee strategy, sales, media planning and marketing for the agency, reporting to Laramie.
Robinson is a 36-year veteran of the OOH industry and prior to joining Project
X served as the Chief Creative Officer in Residence at the Out-Of-Home Advertising Association Of America (he’s also a member of that group’s Hall of Fame). Earlier he served as partner
and CSO at Billups. He also served at MacDonald Media and Outfront Media.

“Over the last few years, we have been building and strengthening the Project X Leadership Team,” Laramie
said in a statement. “We invested heavily in expanding the tools we use to guide the business while continuing to elevate the individuals that will lead Project X through its next growth
phase.” He added, “With the addition of Rick Robinson this August we knew we had the final piece in place and the team was ready. We recognize it’s time for this Leadership Team to
carry the company forward.”
Laramie added that as board chairman he’ll be focused on supporting the new leadership team as they scale the company through organic growth and
M&A.
Last year the firm unveiled a new suite of analytic tools designed to provide its clients access and insights into media planning data and campaign impact.
The new tools
are part of a revamped online client portal that was designed to make OOH campaign data--including strategy decks, buy grids, production reports, attribution, proof-of-performance, contracts, and
billing—more accessible, efficient and user friendly for clients.
The new portal utilizes a proprietary interface that enables advertisers and agencies direct access to interactive
information on virtually all aspects of their OOH history in one place.
