Horizon Media is beefing up its sports and event marketing portfolio via a new joint venture with two well known sports and event marketing execs: long-time Momentum Worldwide Chairman-CEO Chris
Weil; and former Turner Sports President David Levy.
Levy and Weil will serve as co-CEOs of the new venture, which is branded Horizon Sports & Experiences, and includes Horizon's 11-year-old
Scout Sports & Entertainment unit.
Scout Founder Michael Neuman becomes executive vice president of the joint venture, reporting to Levy and Weil.
Levy who is also founder of
sports consultancy Back Nine Ventures, previously had a 30-year career at Turner Broadcasting, rising to president of its sports division before leaving in 2019.
Weil is a 20-year veteran of
Interpublic's Momentum Worldwide, which was founded in 1983 as the event marketing unit of McCann Worldwide.
Long-time Momentum exec Donnalyn Smith has been named to succeed Weil, who
will remain in his chairman role through the end of the year, and has agreed to advise the agency as a consultant through full-year 2023.

Smith currently services as president of North America
at Momentum.
Horizon has a utilized a similar joint venture diversification strategy in recent years, partnering with high-profile industry executives. In 2019, it launched multicultural
agency 305 with hip hop star Armando Christian Peréz, aka Pitbull, and previously partnered with Katie Couric to launch Katie Couric Media.
