The American Marketing
Association (AMA) has named Bennie F. Johnson its new CEO, replacing Russ Klein, who left in December 2021.
Johnson, who joins from executive director of the American Institute of Graphic
Artists (AIGA), joins the AMA following a long search.
Prior to AIGA, Johnson was Chief Strategy Officer of the Council of Better Business Bureaus.
"Full circle. Once upon a time there
was a kid from D.C. that wanted to start his own business, he made flyers + posters, created strategies and pricing, and made sure that everyone knew his businesses were the best. I was marketing
before I knew what marketing was," Johnson says in a message posted on his LinkedIn
profile. "Today. I am extremely humbled and excited to announce my next leadership role as the new CEO of the American Marketing Association. (AMA) The largest global professional association
for marketing and sales professionals across practitioner, academic, and collegiate communities."
