Hyundai Motor Group Promotes Chief Creative Officer To President

Hyundai Motor Group is elevating its chief creative officer with the goal of enhancing the group’s efforts on brand communication.

Luc Donckerwolke is promoted from executive vice president to president.

He will continue to oversee the group’s brand communications based on creative contents and projects and continue his efforts to strengthen the brand identities of Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis brands.

His promotion does not affect the duties of the group’s U.S. heads of marketing at the three brands, according to a spokesperson.

They are Angela Zepeda, chief marketing officer of Hyundai Motor America; Russell Wager, vice president, marketing, Kia America and Wendy Orthman, executive director of marketing for Genesis Motor America.

Donckerwolke has led the group’s creative projects such as Genesis House New York, and customer experience for Advanced Air Mobility.

The group has “challenged the status quo and we will continue to promote a creative, challenging and positive attitude,” Donckerwolke says in a release.

Donckerwolke’s 30-year career as an automotive designer has enabled him to gain worldwide experience working for such brands, as Bentley, Lamborghini, Skoda, Seat and Audi.

He joined the group in 2016 and succeeded Peter Schreyer as CCO in 2017. A passionate automotive aficionado and collector, Donckerwolke also takes great pride in his multicultural background and speaks eight languages.

Hyundai is also establishing a global strategy office to accelerate its transition into future mobility solutions provider and manage the group’s key strategic projects.
