'Vogue' Launches Global Open Casting For Would-Be Models

Vogue has taken its search for models into the digital age with a new initiative: global open casting.

Femme-identifying hopefuls are invited to log on to the casting form on Vogue.com and submit their headshot and a short video, Vogue says.

“Some of Vogue's favorite models were discovered in the most surprising of ways: Kate Moss at JFK airport, Naomi Campbell window shopping in Covent Garden,” said Anna Wintour, Chief Content Officer, Condé Nast, and Global Editorial Director, Vogue.

Wintour adds, “Open Casting is an initiative that will foster the next generation of Vogue talent, with particular attention to the need for more diverse and inclusive representation in fashion. We can't wait to meet them.”

Models can apply from anywhere in the world, and there is no entry fee.

“We want to set the pace for the industry,” says Ignacio Murillo, Vogue’s Global Talent Casting Director. “It’s important for us to react to what we’ve seen on the runway and figure out ways to effect positive change from our position.”

Those chosen will get full support from Vogue.

“We give them the tools: access to brilliant photographers, great stylists, and hair and makeup artists, and of course the best clothes, so that they can learn and become amazing models,” says Rosie Vogel-Eades, Vogue’s Global Director of Talent and Casting.
