DDB Merges Two New York Agencies, Hires New Chicago CEO

It’s a big news day for Omnicom global agency network DDB Worldwide—its two New York agencies DDB New York and adam&eveNYC are merging while DDB Chicago welcomed a new CEO, Emma Montgomery.

The merged operation in New York will be known as adam&eveDDB, which also welcomes new leadership with the hiring of CEO Caroline Winterton, who joins from Publicis Groupe’s Digitas where she has served as President of the Atlanta & New York offices.

While at Digitas, Winterton has been leading a team of 600 with clients including Crocs, Delta, Goldman Sachs and others. Winterton has led accounts and built teams for clients like Proctor & Gamble, Kraft, and McDonald’s, winning numerous creative and effectiveness awards.

She previously served as the CEO of Barton F. Graf and as a Partner at Grey, where she oversaw creative campaigns for Coca-Cola, Welch’s, Pringles, Febreze, Downy, Bose, and Walgreens.

Said Alex Lubar, Global President & Chief Operating Officer, DDB Worldwide: “Our ambition is to continue raising the bar on everything we do as one of the world’s most creative networks. There is true power in unity. With these two agencies coming together under the spark of Caroline’s leadership and [adam&eve Global Chief Creative Officer] Rick Brim’s creative oversight while we finalize plans to announce the hiring of a new CCO to partner with Caroline...We will have the energy and agility of a start-up, with the power and resource of a global network.” Adam&eveNYC was started in 2017.

The merged New York entity has disciplines across brand and communications strategy, creative, integrated production, design, CX, and experiential marketing.

The agency, which is moving to new offices in the city’s West Village neighborhood, will also house a state-of-the-art internal production company.

Lubar and Brim are currently searching for a New York-based Chief Creative Officer to partner with Winterton along with James Rowe, current adam&eveDDB Managing Director, who will report to Winterton and run the agency until her arrival in early fall. Adam&eveDDB also has offices in London and Berlin.

Meanwhile, Montgomery joins DDB Chicago from Publicis Groupe’s Leo Burnett Australia. She has more than 20 years in the marketing and communications industry in leadership roles across Australia, in the US and globally. Prior to her role at Leo Burnett, she was TBWA’s Global Co-Chief Strategy Officer, and Leo Burnett Chicago’s President and CSO.

Montgomery has a multidisciplinary background, having worked across media, creative and TV programming, leading strategy, analytics, experience design and content development. She's worked with clients such as Kellogg’s, Kraft, Aldi, Bank of America, Diageo and Molson Coors.  Her work has been recognized at Cannes, D&AD, One Show and Clios.

“She’s a proven leader who creates impact, strengthens cultures, and fuels client growth,” said Lubar.

Montgomery will partner with CCO Rodrigo Jatene and report to Lubar.
