Jack In The Box Opens 1st Drive-Thru Only Location In Utah, Launches Munchie Sauce

Jack in the Box recently announced a partnership with Michelin-starred chef Tim Hollingsworth and his Los Angeles eatery Chain.

The result is “Munchie Sauce” a “sauce that’s unlike anything but that goes with everything,” referring to Jack in the Box’s “disparate menu” that includes burgers, tiny tacos, eggrolls and curly fries, says Hollingsworth in a release.

To mark the collaboration, Jack in the Box and Chain will host a series of dinner events later this month featuring Chain’s original Crunchie Meal with items including Crunchie Cluck Sourdough Deluxe, Jumbo Sized Tiny Tacos, Saucy Curlies and cocktail pairings. Limited-edition Jack x Chain ‘I Got Sauced At Chain’ apparel will be available, featuring spokesman Jack with the Munchie Sauce.

Separately, the QSR today announced the opening of its first drive-thru-only location in Ogden, Utah.

“This location features our dynamic new CRAVED image which includes a new color package, signage, and imagery," explained Tim Linderman, Jack in the Box chief development officer, in a release. “As a drive-thru only prototype, it includes a drive-thru and walk-up window for ordering and pickup, and dedicated parking for mobile and third-party delivery orders.”

The San Diego, Calif., brand has stated plans to open three additional CRAVED units this year, with two of those in Louisville, Kentucky, and another new market entry later 2023.

The opening follows on the tail of the QSR’s July launch of its first new market entry in more than a decade in Salt Lake City. The chain announced in a release “record breaking sales” at the new location, “with full-first-month sales that outperformed the previous record setting new market opening by 66%.”
