Pitchman Jack Box is back in a new series of horror- and Halloween-themed teasers and short spots introducing the new “Angry Monster Tacos.”
These new takes on Jack in the Box’s Monster Tacos are “two spicy Monster-sized tacos with the same melty American cheese, shredded lettuce and taco sauce, inside a red shell. The Monster Taco’s evil twin is here to act as the devil on your shoulder when you’re feeling spicy,” according to a representative from Jack in the Box agency of record TBWA\Chiat\Day.
The first Angry Monster Taco spot serves as a teaser for upcoming activations and content to be released throughout the month of October, including an actual horror short written by yet-to-be announced “Hollywood Horror” writers to be released on Friday, Oct. 13th.
In the ad, we see Jack strolling down a normal dimly lit suburban street (the stereotypical setting for many horror films). As Jack talks about the two kinds of Monster Tacos, a dilapidated apparently driverless former ice cream truck with red glowing cabin lights slowly appears in the background. As Jack takes a step, the truck lurches closer. As he steps back, it backs up. Low, wicked growling and demented ice cream truck music can be heard emanating from the vehicle, as Jack comments, “Yeah… that’s not creepy at all.”

A series of shorter :15 teasers see a young man nervously reaching for an Angry Monster Taco in the dark. As his hand reaches the taco, the screen cuts out amid screams. Another showcases the tacos on display on the side of the aforementioned spooky truck, with Jack “daring” viewers to try the new taco. Spots will run on national broadcast, streaming apps and social.
The limite- time offer Monster Tacos will be available in store and via online orders through Nov. 19.
