Toyota Reveals New Camry, Crown SUV

LOS ANGELES, California — Toyota Motor North America unveiled the 2025 model year versions of its best-selling Camry and new Toyota Crown Signia SUV model on Tuesday night ahead of the Los Angeles Auto Show.

The ninth generation Camry’s now 100% hybrid lineup features the 5th generation Toyota Hybrid System paired with a 2.5-Liter, 4-cylinder engine that produces up to 232 net-combined horsepower on the all-wheel drive model a 30 HP increase over the prior mechanical AWD model.

For the first time ever on a Camry Hybrid, Toyota’s electronic on-demand all-wheel drive system will be available on all grades. The AWD system provides additional traction when needed, like during inclement weather or while cornering. Its capability comes from a dedicated rear electric drive motor generator that automatically supplies power to the rear wheels when needed.

Safety is also improved with the new model. The standard blind spot monitor features rear cross-traffic alert and the automaker’s full host of safety features in its Toyota Safety Sense 3.0.

The second Toyota Crown model adds a distinctive crossover SUV to the U.S. lineup which is exclusively equipped with a hybrid powertrain with 243 horsepower, standard all-wheel drive and 36 miles per gallon city/highway combined.

With an eye toward performance, the new model features a monochromatic grille which gives it a wide stance, available 21-inch wheels, and Toyota Hammerhead front end.

The interior cabin offers available leather-trimmed seating, and panoramic glass roof. The second row of seats folds flat resulting in a 6.5 foot-long cargo area.

The Toyota Crown Signia takes all of the attributes of the Toyota Crown name and shapes them into a functional, sophisticated package that customers will “adore,” said David Christ, TMNA group vice president,  at the product debut.

“It’s the first-ever entry into the crossover SUV category for Toyota’s longest-running nameplate and it showcases how we continue to elevate our designs, deliver premium quality, and take hybrid efficiency in versatile new directions,” Christ said.

The 2025 Toyota Camry is expected to arrive in spring 2024 while the 2025 Toyota Crown Signia is planned for summer 2024.

With the Crown Signia’s debut, Toyota will soon have 19 electrified models available for sale in its U.S. model lineup.

As part of Toyota’s diverse approach to its carbon neutrality goals, the Toyota Crown Signia also plays a part in Toyota’s “Beyond Zero” vision to reach carbon neutrality with products, services, and operations; and find new ways to make a positive impact on the planet and society, the automaker claims.
