Subway is well-known for its footlong sub sandwiches, but there’s a new footlong in town -- and it’s considerably sweeter.
In honor of National Cookie Day Dec. 4, Subway is offering a few cities a sneak peek at the chain’s new footlong chocolate chip cookie. Select stores in Chicago, Dallas, Miami and New York will be transformed into “Cookieway” locations, where customers will receive one free footlong cookie with the purchase of any footlong sub from 1 P.M. until 6 P.M. local time.
According to a release from Subway, the chain “sells more freshly baked cookies than any other restaurant company in the United States,” and will be the exclusive purveyor of the footlong cookie. Prompted by a footlong cookie limited time offer for National Cookie Day last year, where a Miami Cookieway pop up store sold out of the sweet treat within two hours, the footlong cookie will be available as a permanent menu item at Subway locations nationwide beginning next month.

"The overwhelming response we received from fans around the country last year let us know that we needed to make the footlong cookie a permanent addition to our menu," said Paul Fabre, senior vice president, culinary and innovation at Subway, in ta release. "
In addition to the Cookieway stores, customers across the country can also get in on the cookie celebration with specials the entire month. Every cookie sold between now and Dec. 31 will help support the Subway Cares Foundation, whose Subway Fresh Start Scholarships program offers tuition assistance to Subway employee. Subway MVP Rewards members nationwide will also receive a free regular sized cookie all month long with the purchase of any six-inch or footlong sub.
