Ancestry Names US Marketing Lead

Leading family history and consumer genomics company Ancestry has named Attica Alexis Jaques senior vice president and general manager of U.S. marketing.

Jaques will oversee growth strategies, subscriber engagement and go-to-market executions, with a focus on injecting new energy into the brand and broadening the appeal of its family history products, according to a release.

In a statement, Jaques called Ancestry “a cutting-edge tech company, with a very human mission,” adding that she aimed to “drive even stronger relationships with our existing consumers and broaden our impact through cultural connections, innovation, and transformative storytelling that empowers journeys of personal discovery.”

Jaques joins Ancestry from Google, where she was head of global brand marketing, consumer apps for approximately three-and-a-half years.

Previously, she was at Under Armour as senior vice president of global brand management, and spent over a decade at Gap, where she rose to vice president of global marketing. During her tenure, she helped launch the company’s Gap, Banana Republic, and Old Navy brands in international markets, and led cause marketing efforts across 30 countries.

Jaques also serves as a board director for sustainable jewelry brand Brilliant Earth, and is a founding member of Chief, a private network devoted to connecting and uplifting women in top leadership positions.

Ancestry chief commercial officer Brian Donnelly cited Jaques’ “exceptional track record in broadening brand appeal, launching into new categories, and activating consumers” as making her “uniquely qualified to lead [Ancestry’s] U.S. marketing efforts,” in a statement.

Earlier this year, Ancestry teamed up with Guinness for a St. Patrick’s Day campaign that included digitizing 1.6 million historical records from the Guinness Storehouse Archives, so that Ancestry customers could see if the historic brewery had any connections to their family legacy.
