Vox is about to debut a multi-media podcast franchise: Explain It To Me.
The franchise will launch on September 18 as a podcast and newsletter, and a video series will roll out on Vox’s YouTube channel later in the month.
Hosted by Jonquilyn Hill, Explain It To Me will answer questions from the audience on everything from retirement to why jars are hard to open. Klaviyo will sponsor all three editions.
“Our audience has never been shy about reaching out to us directly with their questions, and now, with our new Explain It to Me franchise, we’re doubling down on our mission of serving our audience by creating a forum for weekly conversations with them across platforms,” says Swati Sharma, editor in chief and publisher of Vox.
“Explain It To Me is a show for the naturally curious,” Hill adds. “Our world is full of so many questions and whether they’re big or small, they reveal so much about the world around us and the way it functions.

In related news, journalist Peter Kafka is relaunching his media and technology show in partnership with Vox. It will be called Channels.
Starting on Wednesday, the show will provide conversations with industry leadders and upstarts about the area where media, entertainment and technology collide, Vox claims.
“We always say that media, tech and business are always changing — but they are really, really changing right now,” says Kafka, the chief correspondent at Business Insider. “This show is for people who want to understand why, and what happens next.”
Vox will handle production, sales, marketing and distribution.
