The Big Mac just jumped on the chicken sandwich bandwagon.
McDonald’s announced the official limited time addition of the Chicken Big Mac to menus across the U.S. beginning Oct. 10. The Chicken Big Mac has been making LTO test appearances on McDonald’s menus around the world, but this marks the first time the sandwich is available nationwide in the U.S.
The brand solicited the help of Chain, the experiential company behind multiple chain restaurant food inspired pop-ups as well as the upcoming Chainfest, where chefs create and serve their own high-end dupes of fast food and fast-casual favorites.
What resulted was McDonnell's, a one-day-only Los Angeles pop-up dining experience last week, which served a slightly familiar signature menu item; "The Chicken Sandwich" (a Big Mac with tempura battered chicken instead of beef). McDonell’s also served Chain’s Beef Tallow Fries, Deep Fried Apple Pie and a Clover Freeze, which was described as “inspired by an Irish Shake, this minty vanilla frozen drink rocks.”

"With the introduction of the Chicken Big Mac, we're excited to pay homage to one of our most iconic menu items, the Big Mac, and introduce it to a whole new generation of fans," said Tariq Hassan, chief marketing and customer experience officer at McDonald's USA, in the release.
To promote the new chickified classic, McDonald’s has enlisted social media star (and noted Big Mac devotee) Kai Cenat. Along with his group of friends, Cenat will livestream their unfiltered reactions to trying the new Chicken Big Mac. Apparently Cenat and his group will also help determine whether the new chicken sandwich is, in fact, still considered a Big Mac.
Chain was started three years ago Michelin-starred chef Tim Hollingsworth and actor-writer B.J. Novak with the purpose of “celebrating multi-generational nostalgia through high-impact immersive dining events.”
