Volvo Cars Head of Marketing Leigh Moynihan has resigned.
Moynihan was the lead on marketing in the United States and Canada for almost seven years before her resignation, which was first reported by Automotive News.
She was appointed head of marketing for USA and Canada in February 2020 and has helped "steward a return to the brand’s core values of safety and sustainability – resulting in award-winning campaigns and the historic win of the most Top Safety Pick Plus awards of any brand,” according to her bio on the automaker’s website.
Prior to that appointment, she led the brand team since joining Volvo in February 2018.
“During that time, Leigh made a significant impact through campaigns and brand activations, including the launch of XC40 and the first-generation Care by Volvo application,” according to her bio. “ he also supported brand moments, sales events, Certified by Volvo, as well as the company's profitable aftersales businesses.”

Moynihan joined Volvo with nearly 20 years of experience in marketing, advertising and brand development. Her career includes managing McDonald’s Olympic Hospitality Program at the 2000 Summer Olympics, to driving the brand transformation of three P&G beauty brands, the repositioning of Starwood Hotels & Resorts’ biggest global brand, and adoption of digital pay solutions at Mastercard for Google, Samsung and Apple.
She started her career in the agency world including 10 years at Grey Group and two years at Saatchi & Saatchi and was recently recognized by Brand Innovators as one of the top 100 women in marketing.
In the past two years, Volvo has replaced several other high level employees including its CEO and CFO.
