Too often, the holidays are a frenzied time of whirlwind shopping, days of cooking and delayed travel. Peet’s Coffee aims to bring customers back to the simpler times of human connection with its new holiday promotion.
This week the coffee chain announced its Postcards from Peet’s holiday event. Customers who visit Peet’s coffee bars (in real life) from noon till closing time can try one of the chain’s new festive (non-alcoholic) mocktails from its Bar Menu, for free.
Along with the free mocktail, customers will also receive a limited-edition holiday postcard, with which to send a personal handwritten message, (rather than an email or text) to whomever they choose. The card was designed by artist Lisa Congdon, who has also created designs for The Library of Congress, Target, The U.S. Postal Service, Amazon, Google, Method, REI and MoMa, among others. The postcard also includes a $10 discount to Peets.com.

"With an increasing desire for real connections, 'Postcards from Peet's' invites Peetniks to slow down and cherish the people who matter most," said Jessica Buttimer, senior vice president of brand at Peet's Coffee in the announcement. "To celebrate a warmth that truly captures the season's spirit, we've partnered with Congdon, whose limited-edition postcard creates the feeling of togetherness."
The non-denominational holiday postcard’s muted 70’s color palate contains Scandinavian-inspired illustrations of snowflakes, peace doves, pine trees and, of course, coffee.
The mocktails on Pete’s new (non-alcoholic) bar menu include the Sparkling Tiger's Eye, which contains Smooth Baridi Cold Brew, blood orange purée, club soda, and Hella Orange Bitters; The Bestie, which is made from blood orange and chai tea with Hella Orange Bitters and The Derby, an espresso beverage with non-alcoholic bourbon flavor and a light cream top.
From Dec. 6 through Dec. 12, customers can receive a free postcard with any mocktail purchase, while supplies last.
