OpenAI And Future Sign Content Usage Deal

OpenAI has formed an agreement with Future, a specialist publishing firm headquartered in the UK, allowing it to use content from Future’s 200+ media brands.

ChatGPT users will be able to access content from the Future portfolio, with attribution and links to the original articles, OpenAI says.

“Across Future’s brands, we are focused on growing our engaged audience and building global communities,” says Jon Steinberg, Future CEO. “Our partnership with OpenAI helps us achieve this goal by expanding the range of platforms where our content is distributed.”

Future already had a relationship with OpenAI, using its technology to develop chatbots that enable users to engage more deeply with content from Tom’s Hardware and Who What Wear.

In addition, Future uses OpenAI’s tools to drive productivity in sales, marketing, and editorial.

Future’s brands include PC Gamer, GamesRadar and Retro Gamer.

“This partnership enables us to enhance the ChatGPT experience by providing more access to engaging, up to date and reliable information from a range of specialist sources,” said Brad Lightcap, COO, OpenAI. “Our goal is to help publishers and content creators both benefit from advanced AI technology and expand their reach.”

The announcement comes just days after the news that five Canadian news publishers have sued OpenAI, alleging that it is using their content to train its models.
