News/Media Alliance Tells NFL To Allow Locker Room Access

The News/Media Alliance (NMA) has urged NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to continuing to allow press to enter to locker rooms following games.

The NMA joined six other organizations in calling on Goodell to maintain a decades-long policy allowing reporters to access player locker rooms for post-game interviews, the NMA reported on Monday.

The NFLPA Executive Committee had called for restriction of press entrée to locker rooms.

However, the letter observed that locker-room access provides opportunities for “off-the-record, informal conversations with players that roster relationships between the players and journalists."

It adds that the coverage resulting from this access has “significantly contributed to the global success of the brand and the sport.”
