Chuck E. Cheese Gets Into The Education Biz

On April 1, Chuck E. Cheese will launch Chuck E.’s STEAM-tastic Adventure, a hands-on science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) in-restaurant experience for kids that combines the chain’s kid-centric environment with serious education.

Fittingly, the brand is promoting the launch of the program March 14, otherwise known in the science-loving community as Pi Day, with a “buy any large pizza and get a medium build-your-own 1-topping pizza for just $3.14,” offer.

The day-long field trip program, designed for kids from kindergarten through fifth grade,  will take place inside Chuck E. Cheese Fun Centers across the country. It “offers grade-specific, curriculum-aligned content that helps students build critical thinking and problem-solving skills through interactive lessons and games,” per the brand.

Both Chuck E. Cheese himself, and a new character, his “zany science-loving sidekick, Professor Ponder” will join students to “help bring key concepts to life with playful explanations and unexpected twists.”

The program includes pre-visit study guides, in-center lessons, student worksheets and take-home activities.

Teachers will receive a package of classroom-ready materials for the day, which will include: a pre-visit class activity, a teacher lesson guide, student worksheets and extension activities, in addition to a post-visit Certificate of Completion for their students.

The chain promises a “secure experience backed by our trusted Kid Check system,” which gives guests and their adults an invisible matching stamp upon entry, ensuring the kids leave with the same adults with which they arrived.

Chuck E.’s STEAM-tastic Adventure was created in partnership with STEM.org.
