Wired Compliance: Tool Places Legal Disclaimers In Emails, Firm Says

Everyday email senders are required by law to place a range of disclaimers in their messages.

In the U.S., for instance, health care and financial services companies must comply with laws like HIPAA and the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act.

Exclaimer, an email signature firm, is trying to help them with a new service called Disclaimers. This tool rolls in the necessary statements automatically, the firm says.

“Managing legal disclaimers shouldn’t be such a manual process,” says Vicky Wills, Chief Technology Officer at Exclaimer.

Wills adds, “By centralizing disclaimer management, legal messaging is always accurate and up to date, no matter how large or complex the organization is.”

Granted, Disclaimers is primarily intended for employee and client communications. But it clearly can also be utilized for marketing and transactional emails in heavily regulated industries.

According to Exclaimer, the new solution provides these benefits:

  • Centralized management, allowing a company to Create and update all disclaimers from one location, with changes applied instantly.
  • Targeted messaging based on  department, location, domain and other variables.
  • Design flexibility that helps maintain compliance and brand consistency.
  • Automated updates that allow the user to apply changes universally.
  • Global compliance support, localizing disclaimers for different regions or languages.

The new feature is available to Exclaimer customers.
