One drive-thru coffee chain is commemorating October’s Breast
Cancer Awareness Month with a new pink drink and cups, as well as its annual fundraiser.
The Human Bean’s annual Coffee for a Cure breast cancer giveback event, now in its
20th year, takes place on Oct. 17. The chain will donate proceeds from all food and beverage sales from the day to local breast cancer foundations. The funds will be used to support
patients with “essential services including mammograms, post-diagnosis care and support and education.”
The chain’s new Bright Energy Pink Lemon-aid, which includes Lime
Bright Energy, raspberry and sweet almond flavors, is bright pink in color in honor of breast cancer awareness. Specially designed pink cups with artwork that highlights “messages of strength,
hope and care for breast cancer patients and survivors” are also available through October.

"Coffee for a Cure is all about celebrating strength, honoring loved ones, and spreading a
message of hope to breast cancer patients and survivors," says Rhonda Hawkins, co-founder of The Human Bean. "We’re grateful to our community of customers and franchise partners who show up in a
big way every October to support one another.”
Customers are encouraged to tag #CoffeeForACure on Instagram posts.
Since beginning the Coffee for a Cure program, the chain has
donated over $4.2 million to breast cancer causes. The program began to “raise awareness and provide critical support to breast cancer patients and survivors in communities across the
country.”
Launched in 1998 in Ashland, Ore., Human Bean currently has approximately 260 locations open across 25 states. The chain sources its coffee through its Farm Friendly
Direct program, which pays above-market prices to farmers and sponsors community projects like building and repairing septic and sanitary units.
