California Pizza Kitchen (CPK) is
kicking off 2026 with some healthy twists on several familiar menu items.
The Beverly Hills-based chain has added a “Smart Swaps” menu that features modifications and ingredient
swaps to either up a meal’s protein, make it vegetarian or lower calories.
For example, the chain’s West Coast Burger can be reformatted as a bowl with 40g of protein. The
Cedar Plank Salmon, served with piccata sauce, now has 73g of protein. The Kung Pao Spaghetti is now available with zucchini ribbons for 42% fewer calories. The Piccata, made with a cauliflower steak,
comes in with 10g of fiber, and the Spicy Buffalo Cauliflower is now pan-roasted for 28% fewer calories. The Lettuce Wraps on the Smart Swaps menu add 11g of fiber.
“Smart Swaps provide
our guests with more choices that fit their ever-changing lifestyles, so they can enjoy CPK on their own terms,” says Chef Paul Pszybylski, vice president of culinary innovation at
California Pizza Kitchen, in a release. “Ongoing health and wellness mindsets, as well as more recent trends around diet, weight loss and nutrition, are driving how people eat, and we’re
proud to meet these needs in creative and delicious ways.”

The brand has partnered with mother-daughter fitness influencer duo Denise and Katie Austin to launch the menu. Katie in
particular is known for her “healthified” recipes. The influencers, who have almost one million followers combined on Instagram, will promote the Smart Swaps menu via their social media
and other digital platforms.
All nine of the Smart Swaps menu items are available for dine-in, carryout or delivery at all participating U.S. restaurants for the same price as their original
versions.
