As Roblox faces ongoing safety lawsuits, the company has hired John Ciancutti as its first chief growth officer (CGO), tasked with expanding
user growth internationally, as well as enhancing the gaming platform's recommendation algorithm.
Ciancutti is experienced in scaling consumer products and teams. He comes to Roblox from Netflix,
Meta, Google, and most recently Amazon, where he acted as the general manager for a live radio app called Amp, and led product and engineering for Amazon’s music streaming service.
“Joining Roblox feels like a natural next chapter -- and a rare opportunity to help shape the future of play and human connection at global scale,” Ciancutti shared in a post on LinkedIn.

In his role as Roblox CGO, Ciancutti will lead the company’s growth, discovery, and
international teams, focusing on making the games discovery process more personalized and intuitive, while also helping developers more easily find their community.
In addition, Ciancutti will
be tasked with accelerating global growth and supporting local creators by partnering with newly appointed regional Roblox leaders across Europe, India, Latin America, the Middle East, North Africa,
and Turkey.
Ciancutti is joining Roblox after the platform's daily active user count fell to 132 million in Q1 2026, marking a 12 million DAU quarter-over-quarter drop. While revenue continues
to boom, the company is investing in age-verification initiatives as it deals
with an ongoing barrage of safety lawsuits.
Roblox-related cases in the U.S. have already resulted in the arrest of dozens of people on charges of abducting or sexually assaulting children
they met on the virtual gaming platform.
