Campside Email: A New Tool For Reaching Out To Guests

The outdoor camping season is upon us, so this is as good a time as any to mention a new email program—one focused on reaching campers.

CampLife, a provider of campground management software, is offering a new email marketing tool designed for campground owners and operators. It works by integrating communication tools into the reservation system.

Now this may be old hat to big hotel chains, but it may be new to some in this very specialized market. Many campground owners lack the time to manage multiple platforms, but still need to reach out to customers.

“There is always something competing for a campground owner’s attention,” says Tyler Duffy, president of CampLife, in a statement reproduced in Woodall’s Campground Magazine. “We wanted to create a tool that helps parks stay connected with their guests in a practical and manageable way using the information they already have.”

Owners can use the new feature to organize their email lists based on history, site types or specific reservation types. Users can also save specific search filters—for example, like those for local visitors or past cabin guests.

The main goal is to foster long-term loyalty and shore up occupancy during slow periods. For instance, operators can notify campers about midweek or shoulder-season events.

“Email is a practical way to help fill your sites,” the company says on its site. “You can reach out to specific groups, like locals who might want a last-minute getaway or previous guests who haven’t booked yet this year. It’s a low-pressure way to let people know you have space for them during quieter midweek stretches and shoulder seasons.”

Another benefit is that CampLife shows “simple, at-a-glance metrics for each campaign, including opens and clicks,” it adds.

Finally, there is help for blocked writers.

“To help you prep a series of emails that fills your sites, we’ve put together a whole year of email ideas that you can use to save time and break through writer's block,” CampLife concludes.

See you under the stars.
