A group of thousands of authors has won a $1.5 billion settlement from Anthropic that their lead lawyer calls “the largest known copyright recovery in history," the Guardian
reports. In the case filed in 2024 by Andrea Bartz and two other authors, the plaintiffs alleged that Anthropic used their protected work to power Claude chatbots. The settlement provides
