The Federal Communications has eliminated a cap on the share of U.S. television households a single broadcast company can reach, NBC News reports. The FCC, in a 2-1
vote, repealed the 22 year-old rule that a single company cannot own stations reaching 39% of the U.S. television audience. “The cap no longer constrains the power of national programmers.
Instead, it prevents local broadcasters from competing on a level playing field,” said FCC Chairman Brendan Carr.
