Burger King taps into both the popularity of both blind boxes
and claw machines for its latest collab with Sanrio, the Japanese brand behind Hello Kitty.
The new King Jr. Kids' Meal, available beginning Oct. 20, features collectible figurines in the
Hello Kitty character, along with her “friends” My Melody, Kuromi, Cinnamoroll and Keroppi. Each of the different characters dons a Burger King crown and comes in its own mystery blind
box, which hides the character’s identity until the customer opens it.
A total of six different figurines are available, each representing one of the Sanrio characters along with a rare
sixth golden Hello Kitty, which if found will earn the recipient the complete set of all six Hello Kitty and Friends figurines.
“We love seeing Hello Kitty and Friends get the royal
treatment at Burger King, with each character sporting their own iconic BK crown,” said Jill Koch, chief brand officer, Sanrio, Inc. in a press release. “Bringing these beloved characters
into the King Jr. Kids' Meal in such a playful way creates something special for fans of all ages to enjoy.”

four or six chicken nuggets, hamburger or cheeseburger, fries or applesauce and a drink, all packaged in a Hello Kitty-themed bag, along with an exclusive Hello Kitty crown, available while supplies
last.
To kick off the collab, Burger King is also leaning into the popularity of claw machines with a one-day pop-up in Southern California. On Oct. 23, the brand’s “Golden Claw
Machine” will be at the chain’s Downy, California, location beginning at 11 a.m., giving customers a chance to win a Hello Kitty toy or a one-of-a-kind 14K gold-plated Hello Kitty
figurine.
