Fox Claims Monday Night Victory With Intense Dramas

The Fox mid-season rating rush is now building in some non-"Idol" dayparts: Monday night.

For the first time this season, Fox has edged out NBC for a rare Monday night win, with "Prison Break" and "24" leading the charge.

"Prison Break" earned a Nielsen preliminary 4.1 share/11 rating, while "24" posted a 5.4/12. Interestingly, both shows came in second place to "Deal or No Deal" and "Heroes, " NBC's 8 p.m.-10 p.m. duo in the 18-49 ratings race.

"Deal" grabbed a 4.8/12, while "Heroes" came in at a 6.1/14.

Both NBC shows were down a little from the week before. Fox's "Prison Break" was also off its numbers from its previous outing.

Unlike Fox, however, NBC had to account for its lower-rated 10 p.m. show, "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip," which dipped a little to a 3.0 rating among 18-49 viewers--one of its lower scores of the season. Overall, this gave NBC a second-place number, with a 4.6/11.

CBS and ABC were closely grouped next, ending up in third and fourth place, respectively. CBS earned a 3.2/8; ABC was at 3.1/8.

ABC's best was a 3.5 with "Supernanny" at 9 p.m. Second best was a 3.2 for a repeat of "Wife Swap" at 8 p.m.

CBS did a lot with a little. Its rerun of "CSI: Miami" at 10 p.m. with a 3.9 rating easily topped new episodes of NBC's "Studio 60," "What About Brian" and Univision's "Cristina." For the evening, Univision was fifth at 1.8/4.

CW was sixth at 1.1/3, with all its urban comedies hovering around the 1 rating mark: "Everybody Hates Chris" (1.1), "All of Us" (1.0), "Girlfriends" (1.0) and "The Game" (1.1).
