Watch The Ads Go Round -- On Baggage Carousels

Airports in China are now allowing colorful ads directly on baggage carousels -- meaning the more luggage that's removed, the higher your chances are of getting dizzy, hypnotized or having the urge to bet it all on red.

The Simatai Marketing Group launched its first slew of ads in China's busiest airport, the Beijing Capital International Airport.

The airport has 15 baggage carousels (eight for international flights and seven for domestic), and traffics 48 million visitors annually.

Named for an entry point to the Great Wall of China, the Charleston, S.C.-based Simatai is the exclusive broker for North and South American-based companies that want to place ads on carousels in China.

Creative for most ads is bilingual and takes up the full length and width of the carousel.

"Many new products and services offered elsewhere are being introduced in China for the first time, along with the additional need to remind travelers to China that certain products and services are available there," said Ken Fox of SMG.

Ad space can be purchased in three-, six- and 12-month intervals, and creative can be updated throughout the ad buy.

Airports in Guangzhou, Shanghai, Nanjing, Shenzhen, Dalian and Xi'an are slated to offer ad space later this year, along with as-yet-unnamed airports in the United States.
