Shutterfly Names Industry Veteran To CMO Post

Shutterfly, Inc. has named Kathryn Olson CMO, responsible for expanding its premium lifestyle brand through results-driven integrated marketing, merchandising and customer experience. She will oversee the innovation of Shutterfly's award-winning products and services, corporate communications, and the company's overall brand positioning, including advertising, customer acquisition and retention, merchandising, direct-marketing, and creative services.

Olson has more than 20 years experience in strategic marketing for major consumer brands, and she has served on the board of trustees for the Association of National Advertisers.

Throughout her career, Olson's work has been recognized with a number of industry awards, including the Toy Industry Association's "Most Innovative," "Most Educational," and "Overall Product of the Year" awards, in an unprecedented sweep in 2005, as well as Adweek magazine's "Ad of the Week" award.

Prior to joining Shutterfly, Olson served as CMO for LeapFrog Enterprises, Inc., where she oversaw all elements of marketing including consumer insights, product direction, advertising, corporate communications and licensing. Prior to LeapFrog, she was VP/consumer marketing for the William Wrigley Jr. Company.

Previously, she was EVP/marketing for Nordstrom.com, where she launched and helped establish the Internet apparel site as the industry's premiere site.

Olson's vast experience with consumer brands and consumer marketing also includes tenure as VP/global marketing for Monsanto Life Sciences and a decade in various positions with The Quaker Oats Company, including lead roles with the Gatorade and Snapple brands.
