Esther Dyson and David Vise take the stage, with David doing a little role playing, notably Bill Gates. When he asks if Microsoft is every going to do search right, Esther tells him to give up and
do something else, because they're not going to win the search war. Go solve malaria. Esther then goes on to talk about the Semantic Web and how the quality of information we get is still not that
good in most cases. Travel is an early example of Semantic Web functionality, but the islands of information are still too scattered. David (as Bill Gates) indicates that Microsoft should be
taking a global view and not being so focused on the US market, particularly Russia and China. Esther recommends looking beyond today's markets to tomorrow's market. That includes thin computing
platforms, training, micro-enterprise. Esther then talked about the need for search that really is smart and can organize trips based on our personalized preferences.
