Telemarketers Required To Provide Caller ID Alerts

Beginning Friday, telemarketers are required by new FCC rules to transmit caller ID information when making calls, regardless of their calling system. The new rules are designed to enable consumers to screen the calls before answering them. The rules, which were adopted last July, require that the name of the telemarketing firm is displayed to consumers receiving their calls. The Direct Marketing Association Friday said it supports the new rules.
